Historic Haymarket District in Lincoln Nebraska

May 6th, 2007

Historic Haymarket District, or as it is referred to by lifelong residents, downtown, is a great gathering place for people of all ages.

Families seem to enjoy the farmers market on Saturday mornings as they can purchase fresh produce, but also see performers, listen to music, see the trains, climb on the train shaped jungle gym, and even get a “small” ice cream cone at Ivanna Cone.

For the pre-teen to teenager, start at the Ivanna Cone, and venture next door to Paint Yourself Silly to paint ceramic figurines. Leave them to be fired in the kiln, and return to pick them up in a week. If you are traveling, let the owner know and they will do what they can to accommodate your time schedule.

For dinner the entire family will love going to Buzzard Billy’s for some exotic food. At Buzzard Billy’s you can order alligator, and the end your exotic meal with one of their delicious desserts.
